HUNTINGTON Ind, (FDN) Huntington University’s film department is experiencing some major changes after losing the LAFSC program due to the pandemic.
LAFSC was the program that sent film seniors to LA for their final semester. Students would study and find internships out in California, a big draw for the program that attracted a lot of students to Huntington. The pandemic closed down that program until recently, so the department needed to adapt.
Professors Lance Clark and Matt Webb are introducing a new program to replace LA, called the Capstone program. Now, film seniors will spend their final semester and part of May prepping for and filming a feature length film. Industry professionals are being brought in to teach students and lead in key roles during filming.
Dr. Lance Clark, the head of the department and the producer for the feature film, is confident this new program is equal to LAFSC.
“Why are we sending students to LA, why don’t we bring LA to our campus?” said Clark.
The 2022 seniors will be the first class to go through the Capstone program.
