HUNTINGTON, Ind. (FDN) — Recent renovations with the Huntington Union Building, known as the HUB, is impacting the entire student body at HU. Many students are confused about food options and costs — especially commuters.

“It’s really disadvantageous to some students and specifically commuters like me,” said senior film major Samantha Creager. “We would go to the HUB and it would be about four to six dollars and now you just go to the DC and I definitely think they doubled the price.”

In previous years, the HUB had been a second dining option for students. Dining services offered either sandwiches and a different student-picked option for each semester.

But during the entire 2019-2020 school year, university officials have closed the HUB for renovations, leaving the Dinning Commons as the primary food option.

Commuters say last year they could buy a hub sandwich for a few dollars. They believe this year that to get a hub sandwich they must pay the full DC price.

Student Government Association tells FDN that commuters may purchase just a sandwich at the same price as previous years.

The current hours for the DC have extended since the closing of the HUB.
